The Significance of Saving Tonex
Tonex is a critically endangered species of freshwater fish discovered solely within the higher Tennessee River basin. The species has been in decline for many years as a result of habitat loss, air pollution, and overfishing. In consequence, Tonex is now listed as endangered beneath the Endangered Species Act.
