Chutzpah is a Yiddish phrase meaning “audacity” or “nerve.” It’s usually used to explain somebody who’s shameless or has quite a lot of self-confidence. The phrase is pronounced “hoots-pah” or “hutz-pah.”
Chutzpah is usually seen as a constructive high quality, as it may be an indication of somebody who’s prepared to take dangers and rise up for what they consider in. Nevertheless, it may also be seen as a unfavourable high quality, as it may be an indication of somebody who’s smug or disrespectful.
